Alpha Xi Delta’s Philanthropic Focus

The Kindly Hearts Initiative

The Kindly Hearts Initiative serves as the umbrella to our national philanthropic focus of supporting children and teens experiencing foster care or homelessness. Alpha Xi Deltas across the country support two Key Impact Organizations, FosterClub and StandUp for Kids, making a national and regional difference under the umbrella of our focus.

Letters of Love

All Alpha Xi Delta chapters and alumnae associations participate in Letters of Love, Alpha Xi Delta’s national letter writing fundraising campaign. Held annually during the month of November this campaign benefits Alpha Xi Delta’s two Key Impact Organizations, StandUp for Kids and FosterClub.

Our Chapter's Impact:

Alpha Xi Delta and the Kindly Hearts Initiative

The Iota Xi Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta is excited to spread awareness and raise money for Stand Up For Kids on the WPI campus. The Kindly Hearts Initiative has given us the opportunity to look for a local non-profit organization that our sisters are passionate to support for ongoing years. In supporting Stand Up For Kids, we hope to shed light on the importance of its cause. The Stand Up For Kids program provides shelter, supplies, and educational programs for youth experiencing homelessness. Alpha Xi Delta is committed to supporting youth experiencing homelessness in the greater Worcester region. We hope our fundraising and awareness efforts can help ensure that each affected youth can have the help they need to survive.

Philanthropic Activities to Support Stand Up For Kids

Since the administration of the Kindly Heart Initiative, the Philanthropy Team of the Iota Xi chapter has worked hard to organize a variety of philanthropic events to host. This fall, we plan on hosting the AmaXing Challenge: Sports FrenXi, a fun flag football tournament where all members of the WPI community can have fun to participate and raise money for Stand Up For Kids. Along with this, we are working with another organization to host Summerfest, an event in which all of campus is invited to a carnival on the quad with many lawn game activities, a dunk tank, food trucks, and much more. Other philanthropy events hosted by Alpha Xi Delta on WPI’s campus include PenXi Wars, RoseGrams, Baked Ziti, Letters of Love, Waffle House, and Pancake House. The sisters of our chapter frequently table sit in the Campus Center in an effort to raise money for our philanthropic causes.

Other Community Service Activities

Along with supporting Stand Up For Kids on campus, the Iota Xi chapter also participates in hands-on outreach community service for the organization. Sisters also participate in a number of other community service events both on and off-campus. These include working with other organizations on campus to host food drives for the Worcester Community Fridges. This also includes Work on Worcester, a campus-wide event that puts students and sisters to work to improve community areas throughout Worcester. This year for Work on Worcester, sisters worked at an elementary school to restock pantry shelves as well as organize and restock toy and clothing/coat closets for the kids. In addition, we have high levels of participation and leadership in WPI’s Relay for Life and frequently get involved in other service events on campus.

If you have any further questions in regards to the Iota Xi Chapter’s Philanthropic endeavors, please don’t hesitate to contact our Philanthropy Vice President Maddie Talbot (mrtalbot@wpi.edu) or our Community Service Director Adriana Navarro Valero (aivalero@wpi.edu).
